Proverbs 31:10-31 Study (Part 12)

Ah, Proverbs 31.
One of the most quoted verses among Christian women (well, at least on Pinterest and on blogs).
But what does it mean to be a Proverbs 31 women?
Join me as I study each verse to discover what it means, and what it takes to become a Proverbs 31 woman.
  *~*~*
Proverbs 31:21
  • "She is not afraid for her household when it snows, for her household are clothed in crimson." NRSV
  • "When is snows she has not fear for her household for all of them are clothed in scarlet." NIV
  • "She is not afraid of snow for her household; for all her household are clothed with scarlet." KJV
  • "She has no fear of winter for her household, for everyone has warm clothes." NLT
  • "She doesn't worry about her family when it snows, their winter clothes are all mended and ready to wear." MSG
We're going to focus on the NLT and MSG translation of this verse (but, I will say this, imagine you're children are heading out to play in the snow, what color is the safest to wear? Yep, red!!)

The virtuous wife is prepared. She takes care of her family. She looks after everyone, making sure they have what they need.
She is prepared for what's to come; in the verse, she's prepared for winter by making sure all the family's clothing is mended and warm.
She thinks ahead and therefor doesn't worry about the future. She's prepared where she can and trusts God to handle the rest.
Philippians 4:6 says;
  •  "Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done." NLT

God doesn't want us to live in fear. He wants and commands us to be strong.
  • "This is my command-be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go." Joshua 1:9 NLT
We can't change our circumstances around us, but, we can change out attitude-which will make all the difference (the noble wife isn't complain about the cold and now, but rather she's preparing for it).
God wants us to trust Him. He wants us to know he is with us-that he's guarding and guiding us, no matter what be go through.

So, a virtuous wife shouldn't worry, she isn't afraid of trusting God. She trusts Him and his plan. She also looks ahead and provided love and safety for her family.
