Proverbs 31:10-31 Study (Part 1)

Ah, Proverbs 31.

One of the most quoted verses among Christian women (well, at least on Pinterest and on blogs).

But what does it mean to be a Proverbs 31 women?

Join me as I study each verse to discover what it means, and what it takes to become a Proverbs 31 woman.
  *~*~*
Proverbs 31:10
  • "A capable wife who can find? She is far more precious than jewels." NRSV
  • "A wife of nobel character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies." NIV
  • "Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies." KJV
  • "Who can find a virtuous and capable wife? She is more precious than rubies. NLT
  • "A good woman is hard to find, an worth far more than diamonds." MSG
So, who can find a wife (or women depending on the version) with the characters such as, capable, noble, virtuous and good? Ones whose worth is far more or above jewels, rubies and diamonds?
Jumping back in Proverbs, Proverbs 19:14 says;
  • "House and wealth are inherited from parents, but a prudent wife is from the Lord." NRSV
  • "Fathers can give their sons an inheritance of houses and wealth, but only the Lord can give an understanding wife." NLT
(FYI: Prudent means acting with or showing care and thought for the future.) Fact of the matter is, only God can find a man such a wife.
And ladies, you cannot buy capability, nobility, virtue or goodness. You can only learn those things through a relationship with God.

Once again, jumping back in Proverbs, Proverbs 8:11 says;
  • "Wisdom is far more valuable than rubies. Nothing you desire can compare with it." NLT
If wisdom is more valuable than rubies and women are worth far more or above jewels, rubies and diamonds. Then women should be extremely wise and I don't know about you, but to me, wisdom implies knowledge of the Lord.
So, a Proverbs 31:10 woman should be wise and have a relationship with the Lord. She should walk with God, serving and praising Him.
