A Christian Heart and Mind

As a christian it's extremely important to me to be a 'good christian'; meaning, following Gods word.
Some Christians try to treat Gods word like a buffet; they pick and choose. Ditching the things they don't like-the things that make them feel bad about the way they live their life.
Now; don't get me wrong; I'm a sinner; but I have confessed and admitted that to God and Jesus and by the blood and life Jesus gave, I'm saved; but I'm still flawed because I'm only human.

That's why it's extremely important to guard your heart and mind from the world.

You can only see and hear about sex before marriage so long before you start to think that it's OK.You can only hear so many cuss words before you start cussing. You can only hear people take Gods name in vain before you start taking it in vain, after all "every one's doing it"...some people try to reason, "stop being old fashioned; the bible was written for a different time, God wants us to enjoy life."
Movies and TV shows now-a-days, offer a wide variety of ratings...there are movies (usually the "big hits) I will not go see because of the content, now sure, the story line might be hilarious, and I might be a fan of the actors...but I still won't go see it because it's wrong...one of my favorite sights to check out before I see a movie is plugged in online, usually, they give UN-biased views and leave it up to the readers to decided if it's a movie they want to see.

"For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. It teaches us to say "No" to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope—the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good." ~Titus 2:11-14

Therefore, prepare your minds for action; be self-controlled; set your hope fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed. As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: "Be holy, because I am holy." ~1 Peter 1:13-16

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death — even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. ~Philippians 2:3-11


Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. ~Philippians 4:8
