The Reason for the Season- Part 3

The Second purpose of Christmas is salvation.
Salvation is usually defined as deliverance from sin and hell. Well, it does include all that, and much more. Not only are we saved from something bad, but we are saved for something good. The bible says;
"For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago." Ephesians 2:10 NLT.
God has a purpose and a good plan for your life.
Salvation means being able to have the freedom and power to fulfill God's purpose for your like.
The second declaration of good news to the shepherds at the first Christmas is;
"for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord." Luke 2:11 NASB.
Jesus is a personal savior. Gods gift of true salvation is freedom, purpose and life in three dimensions. Your Past, Your Present and Your Future. Jesus saved you from something for something!
Jesus came to save you from sin and yourself. Let me be frank, you are the cause of most of your problems. We are all born with am "I" problem. By nature we are self centered. No child is taught to be selfish.
When you make a wrong choice you sin. "I" is the center letter of sin; and when I place myself at the center of my life I sin.
Sin is a universal problem. Everyone sins. We sin with out thoughts, words and actions. We sin very day. No human is perfect. The only perfect one in all the universe is God and Jesus.
"If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth. But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. If we claim we have not sinned, we are calling God a liar and showing that his word has no place in our hearts." 1 John 1:8-10 NLT.
The problem with sin is that it's habit forming. The more we do it the easier it gets. Try saying, 'Starting right now no more chocolate, TV, computer, coffee, and/or reading'. Can you stop? Even with the strongest of will power it's very easy to break.
And the more we sin the further we get from God. And when you feel alone, and far from God, guess who moved. God didn't. Our disconnectedness from God is the source of every single human problem on  earth.
Another word for salvation is freedom; free from guilt. When Jesus died on the cross, he paid in full for everything you've ever done wrong or will ever do wrong.
"For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin,[a] so that we could be made right with God through Christ." 2 Corinthian 5:21.
God's forgiveness is more powerful than all of our sins combined.

"Because God’s children are human beings—made of flesh and blood—the Son also became flesh and blood. For only as a human being could he die, and only by dying could he break the power of the devil, who had the power of death. Only in this way could he set free all who have lived their lives as slaves to the fear of dying." Hebrews 2:14-15 NLT

"Thank God for this gift too wonderful for words!" 2 Corinthians 9:15 NLT

"....Well then, if you are the Son of God, save yourself and come down from the cross!” Matthew 27:40 NLT
Jesus ignored them because that was not his purpose in coming to earth. He didn't come to save himself; He came to save YOU.

P.S.
I usually avoid doing two posts in one day; so please forgive me today for doing so.

"The Lord directs the steps of a christian. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the Lord holds them by the hand." Psalms 37:23-24
