The Reason for the Season- Part 2

Christmas is a party, a birthday party for Jesus and birthdays are meant to be celebrated. Ironically, at most Christmas parties, Jesus is never mentioned, he's completely ignored. Although Jesus is the reason for the season, he's over looked or merely mentioned along with Santa, the Grinch and Rudolph along with a long list of fictional characters.
Preparing for Christmas can be alot of work, buying gifts, decorating, cooking and cleaning up afterwards; with little time to actually enjoy the meaning of Christmas. The first purpose of Christmas is Celebration!!
"But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people." Luke 2:10 NIV.
It's personal "I bring YOU."
It's positive "GOOD news of great joy."
It's universal "for ALL people."
It doesn't matter who you are or what you've done. This news is for you. God loves YOU! God with with YOU! God is for YOU!
Jesus' most famous statement in the bible is explanation of why God sent him to earth,
"For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16.
The entire reason for Christmas is the love of God. Until Jesus arrived our understanding of Gods love was limited. God could of chosen a million other ways to communicate with us but he chose face-to-face. God didn't send an angel or a prophet to talk to us, He came himself. The bible tells us God is love, not God has love. He created everything so because he wanted to love it. God made you in order to love you! God's love is unconditional. He loves you regardless of anything and everything you do. God love you based on his character NOT your conduct! It's based on who He is not what you've done. You wouldn't exist is God didn't love you!!
That baby born in Bethlehem did not stay a baby. Jesus grew to manhood, taught us the truth and paid for every sin we commit by dying on a cross. He then proved that he was God and could save us by coming back to life. When the Romans nailed Jesus to the cross, they stretched his arms as wide as they could. With his arms wide open he's physically showing "I love you this much!! I love you so much it hurts!! I'd rather die than live without you!!!"

As i said, alot of people feel alone as Christmas. You may not feel like God is with you. God came to earth at Christmas to remind you that he is always with you no matter where you are. The bible says
"Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence?" Psalm 139:7.
It's up to us to "tune-in" to his presence on a moment by moment basis, a skill that can be learned. One of Jesus' name is Immanuel it means "God is with us". No wonder the angels told the Sheppard's "do not be afraid!". You lose your fear when God is near. God's Presence trumps our panic. God will never leave you. The bible says,
"....  For God has said, “I will never leave you; I will never abandon you.” Hebrews 13:5 NIV.
One of Gods promises in the bible is,
"When you go through deep waters and great trouble, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown! When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you." Isaiah 43:2 NLT.
No one wants best for you than God!
"For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope." Jeremiah 29:11 NLT.
365 times God says in the bible 'Do not be afraid", that's a 'do not be afraid for everyday every year!

Do not be afraid, Jesus came to save us!

"The Lord directs the steps of a christian. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the Lord holds them by the hand." Psalms 37:23-24
