Bathing Horses

Samantha and I gave three or our seven horses a bath;
First came Odysseus;
He got the over haul; scrubbed down, head-to-hoof!! He stood like a thoroughbred being washed before a race. Head held high, standing squared. Very majestic! He did move a few times, but for the most part he stood still for the whole bath!
After his bath we put him into the round pen to keep him near D'Artagnon (who was next on our list to wash) because all of the other horses were in the furthest field away from where we were working (which was at the barn).
Next on our list, as I said, was D'Artagnon.....he's NEVER like baths! Well, he loaths the sound and feel of the water dripping off him and hitting the ground.
So; we started with the hose on mist, we circled; keeping the water on him, round and around we went; the hose almost getting tangled on both Samantha's, D'Artagnons and mine feet, we circled until he stopped. When he stopped we removed the pressure (the water); then after a few seconds we started misting him with water again....we moved from the mist to the shower (following the same process as before asking then removing pressure). We moved from the shower to the the end of the bath he was soaking wet, and Samantha and I weren't harmed! YEAH!!! No soap this time; we had already asked so much of him; let alone to ask him to stand still for a sudsing up and then another rinsing off.
As we were washing D'Artagnon, Odysseus was 'feeling good' in the round pen; bucking, spinning, running, rolling, abviously having a blast and feeling good!! I wouldn't be surprised if he's sore tomorrow...
And the last of the day, Galahad....he got a.....soaking with some sudsing up.....his belly was/is cacked with mud and shedded/shedding hair. It's so thick that sores are starting to form under the mud; which is not good! We've tried brushing it; and we have no clue how it got so bad! I guess though, we don't check there bellys at one point he rolled in mud, it dried...his hair tried to shed, but was stuck....He looks better, most of the mud is off. He stood still THE WHOLE TIME!!! And we were scrubbing, and pulling and spraying his belly! So, parts of him are clean but like, his neck, mane and tail ect. are still a little dirty.....

Today was a beautiful day! High in the 80's!!!! Dorothy was due YESTERDAY...which is still ok; goats can go as much as two weeks over without to much worry. I bet Dorothy will kid soon though; she's starting to bag up (her udder is becoming full with milk).
Mom got mulch today; shes started mulching around the house....if we have extra we'll put some around some bushes and trees.....

Best wishes to everyone!
